Response to Question "Beginning"

The author repeat the word "beginning" six times. "Beginning" means that the event consisting of the start of something.

The repetition of the word reflect that the villagers may escape from the war over and over again, and in the meanwhile, every time they survive, they feel like beginning their life again. Their constant migrations gradually build up villagers' resolution. The "beginning" refers that the villagers try to get far away from the World War II and  to create a new and beautiful world by themselves.

The beginning of creating a new world may be fiction or be real. If they just a fiction, creating a new world just a kind of dream, hope and belief. The life will be better, they think, although the threat of warfare overhang the Europe. People should embrace the life even they are in danger. Maybe the new world is a real thing. Everyone in the village commit to establishing the village and they do the practical actions such as making walls and doing some planting.

Whether the new world is real, the roles in the story convey strong power to us. The story seems to require us to keep that in mind: There are thousands of beginnings in people's life, so we cannot give up even we are in danger.
