Response to The Class on 10.8

In today's class, we talked about the discuss questions and clarification questions based on the story "From No One is Here Except All of Us"

For discuss questions, everyone in the group get together to discuss with each other. We can focus on the location, setting, subject and meaning of the story. In general, the question could be "What is the role/function/significance/meaning of the storytelling?". Besides, we can choose a specific part to find the differences from the rest part. "What is the role of storytelling in the section?" The specific part helps us to have deep analysis about the story and to understand the "true meaning".

The clarification questions focus on the definition of words or sentences. "What is this thing" is the common question we will come up with.

Personally, I prefer the discuss questions. Group members make their voices and opinions, so we have active interaction with each other.  We can also treat the question from various angels. The more point of views, the more meanings we can experience.

According to "From No One is Here Except All of Us", our group put forward a question about the stranger. In this section that reads: “And the stranger looked up at me and her gaze was so sharp that everything else in the room came to a perfect stop. She took my hand and held it for a long moment. The feel of her palm was like worn leather, thick and sturdy.” What is the role of the stranger? What’s the different between the stranger and others?
